Get the Cookbook Girl!

Proverbs 31:15 ~ She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens.

There are so many women that do not cook, or don't know how to cook for their households.  It is the responsibility of the woman to provide food for her household.  This is not my own thinking or my own theory.  Not kidding! Don't take my word for it just look at the verse above.  It should not be alright with you to not prepare food for your family.  Whether you work or stay-at-home you can make sure that your family eats everyday.  Today, there are so many gadgets we have in the the kitchen to make food preparation so much easier.  Let's just take the slow cooker/crock pot for example.  You can put everything in it in the morning and come home to a cooked meal and maybe cook a quick side dish (if you have not put veggies in the slow cooker).  Better yet if you got a double or multiple slow cookers in your home then you do not have to do anything but serve your household when it's dinner time.  Don't know how to cook? Don't trust your cooking?  There is still no excuse.  We have cook books, the Internet, mama, grandma, and cooking magazines all around us. You do not have to be a professional chef to cook.  As long as you follow directions you can have something good on the table for your family.  What if I just don't like to cook?  I heard a woman of God on a Blog Talk radio show hosted by Sisters of Honor one day and she said it perfect.  She said that once we began to accept the role that God has given us and walk in it then we will began to love the things that come with that role which includes providing food for our household.  Well my husband cooks so I don't have to!  There are many men out there that can cook and can cook well.  But that sole responsibility is not put on the man of the house.  There is nothing wrong if your husband cooks every now and again but that role is not placed upon him but the woman.  Again I refer you back to the scripture above.  We as women have gotten so far away from what the home is suppose to look like.  We are so wrapped in having our own identity.  Our identity should be in Christ and not how the world and our friends see us.  Our families come first.  So just because you have a job outside of the home does not mean that you don't provide food for your family because you been working all day long and you tired and everybody fend for themselves.  This should not be okay with you.  It should also not be okay for our stay-at-home moms, it is not okay for you to be at home all day and not have a meal prepared for your husband when he gets home.  We have to get back to basics and the way God has designed for our homes to run and the idea of how we think it should be run to suit us better.  This has just been one of the many of burdens that have been on my heart and we at Proverbs 31 Mama Ministries desire to see households by God's design and not our own.  I did not think this way in the beginning but as I began to truly desire to be that virtuous woman God called me to be I began to love the role that God purposed me to be in and I can truly say that I am honored to walk in it.  Our prayer is that you will began to desire the call of God upon your life.  You will see that you love it after all!!

1 Cor 14:40 ~ But all things should be done decently and in order.

Pro 31:14 ~ She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar.
